PON Transceivers

PON ( Passive Optical network ) is widely deployed in access networks of Fiber to The Home (FTTH ) . Nowadays EPON ( Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical network ) and GPON ( Gigabit Passive Optical network ) are mainstream technology. As key active optical components, PON transceivers determine the architecture and the characteristics of network physical layer. The specifications of GPON ONU and OLT transceivers are defined by ITU-T G.984.2 Class B+ and C+. Both SFF and SFP form factors are adopted. The Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) and other enhanced funcitons like OAM, OTDR are required or optional for different applications.
